Network Building

Culture Hack Labs

Culture Hack Labs (CHL) is a not-for-profit consultancy that supports organizations, social movements and activists to design cultural interventions for systems change. CHL uses insights from cognitive linguistics, behavioral economics, evolutionary biology, memetics and big-data analysis to map and transform cultural narratives. Their research helps movements understand how dominant stories shape public perception and how strategic storytelling can shift those narratives in favor of justice.

As part of Future of Workers’ foundational moment, Culture Hack Labs hosted a workshop in April 2024 to identify and reframe the current, dominant narratives on labor and workers rights. Drawing together a host of Ford Foundation grantees, this convening sought to draw out and uplift narratives based on the values of care, solidarity and interdependence. A second meeting, in July 2024, was held to develop the narrative interventions that were prototyped during the April gathering. These intervention areas were based on common themes, including:

  1. Supply Chain and Digital Platforms
  2. Climate Crisis, Othering/Migration & Work
  3. Domestic & Care Work.

This work resonates with Future of Workers’ commitment to building a network of narrative expertise that supports labor movements worldwide.
